Dodgers vs Brewers Preview: Greinke Looks To Bounce Back
After last night’s 9-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, the Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to rebound from a game that was plagued by costly errors. The Dodgers will play the second game of a seven game road trip that will take the team from Milwaukee to Atlanta this upcoming week.
Zack Greinke (12-7, 2.71 ERA) takes the mound tonight at Miller Park a place where he went 16-0 in home starts with the Brewers form 2011-12. Things haven’t gone as good for Greinke as a visiting pitcher as he gave up five runs in a 5-2 defeat last season. He will also look to bounce back from his last start against another former team, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Greinke wasn’t sharp on Monday as he gave up five runs in a 5-0 loss to the Angels. The right hander has pitched fairly well away from home this season going 6-5 with a 2.75 ERA and has a 2.60 ERA since the All-Star break.
On the mound for the Brewers is Mike Fiers (0-1, 2.57) who is coming off the DL and making his first start since June 2, 2013. He will be starting for Matt Garza, who was placed on the DL earlier this week. Friers has gone 2-0 with a 1.04 ERA against the Dodgers in two games since 2011. He has spent most of 2014 in the minors and has pitched mostly in a bullpen role for the Brewers.
Matt Kemp and Adrian Gonzalez are two players to look out for in tonight’s contest as both have been swinging the bats fairly well. Kemp has hit .292 away from Dodger Stadium this season and Gonzalez has a career .393 BA at Miller Park.
One player that the Dodgers will be missing tonight is Hanley Ramirez, who was taken out of yesterdays game after one inning with tightness in his right side. Miguel Rojas will be starting in his place at shortstop tonight.
