Dodgers vs Diamondbacks: Betting Odds and Predictions for Friday Night’s Game

The Dodgers and Diamondbacks will start a 3-game series tonight in Arizona. Trevor Bauer gets the ball for Los Angeles and he will go up against left-handed pitcher Caleb Smith. It should be an interesting one considering the DBacks just set a record with 22 consecutive road losses.

Back at home now, Arizona is 11-19 when playing in front of their crowd. It’s not much better but it’s significantly better than the 9-31 record they carry when traveling. The Dodgers will look to take advantage of the fact that they’re…well, not a good team.

The Dodgers will be looking for Bauer to bounce back after a few inefficient outings. He’s thrown a combined 217 pitches over his last 2 starts and has totaled 12.1 innings in that stretch. Bauer also has seen his walks shoot up with 6 free passes in those starts.

Going up against him is Caleb Smith, a left-handed hurler who has eaten up innings for Arizona. Smith has yet to make it past the 5th inning this year after moving from the bullpen. Smith struggles to keep the ball on the ground but has kept the ball in the park. The Dodgers will have to make him work as he has struggled with his command.

  • DBacks Odds: +170
  • Dodgers Odds: -200
  • Over/Under: 9.5

Predictions: Regardless of the odds, it’s difficult to pick a team like the Diamondbacks over the juggernaut Dodgers. Their one saving grace could be that Los Angeles has struggled against southpaws, but has been much better with Albert Pujols in the lineup.

Taking the Dodgers is a safe bet.

Over or Under? Scoring over 9 runs seems like a stretch. The Dodgers do have the capability of putting up a ton of runs at once, but they’re also pretty hot/cold. Under it is.
