Dodgers vs Cubs: Betting Odds and Predictions One Day After the No-No

The Dodgers and Cubs will go back at it again on Friday night one day after a no-hitter. Los Angeles got blanked on Thursday and will look to bounce back in a big way against Jake Arrieta.

Arrieta is not nearly the arm that he used to be since leaving Chicago. He owns a 5-8 record and carries a 5.45 ERA into his start against the Dodgers. Arrieta also has a 4.74 xFIP which indicates that he’s had a bit of bad luck early on in the year.

The Dodgers will throw out Tony Gonsolin and he is only expected to throw around 60 pitches. Dave Roberts revealed that in his pregame press conference on Friday afternoon. Gonsolin is still dealing with the shoulder issue that has made him sore coming out of starts.

His biggest goal will be efficiency in this one, looking to continue to cut down his walks. If he can get through 5 innings, that would be HUGE for the Dodgers bullpen.

  • Cubs Odds: +160
  • Dodgers Odds: -190
  • Over/Under: 9.5

Predictions: The odds will probably have you looking at the Cubs in this be given the way LA has played. But coming off of being no-hit, the Dodgers are going to be swinging early and hard at Jake Arrieta. Expect them to put up runs early and often in this one.

Over or Under? With the way the Dodgers have been playing lately, it’s tough to expect any sort of run surgery from them. But they’ve proven at times that they can put them up by the dozen, and Jake Arrieta is a prime candidate to do it against. TAKE THE OVER.
