The Los Angeles Dodgers continued to display their ability of being an effective road team in which they tallied double-digit hits and cruised to a five-run victory over the Colorado Rockies.
With the win, Hyun-Jin Ryu added another successful start away from Dodger Stadium to his 2014 record and Saturday, Zack Greinke looks to dominate from the mound as he’s done on multiple occasions this season; both at home and on the road.
Greinke enters the game with an 8-2 record and 2.50 ERA, but is coming off perhaps his worst start this season. Fortunately for Greinke and the Dodgers, the right-hander is 11-1 in his last 16 starts with a sub-2.00 ERA. With a win, Greinke will be the National League’s first pitcher to reach nine wins this season.
Taking the mound for the Rockies is Jhouyls Chacin, who is winless in six starts this season. Chacin has a 5.51 ERA and has allowed four earned runs in half of his starts. The struggling right-hander figures to have his work cut out for him as he faces a Dodgers lineup with hitters who have fared well against him in their careers.
In 13 career at-bats against Chacin, Adrian Gonzalez is hitting .432 with three RBIs. Andre Ehtier has 26 plate appearances against the right-hander and has a career .385 average, also with three RBIs to go along with 10 walks.
While Matt Kemp hasn’t hit for the same average as his Dodgers counterparts, .226 in 31 at-bats, he does have eight RBIs. After moving Ramirez up in the order to bat second in Friday’s game, Manager Don Mattingly is sticking with the same lineup Saturday with the lone exception being Tim Federowicz starting at catcher.
