Dodgers: Walker Buehler Activated for Start Tonight, Scott Alexander Optioned

The Dodgers are making some moves ahead of tonight’s second game with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Walker Buehler is going to be activated from the injured list after being sent there for a blister on his hand.

Buehler gets the start tonight for the Dodgers, his first start since he went six innings against the Rockies on July 21st. Buehler allowed just one earned run that game en route to 11 strikeouts and his first win of the season.

Buehler is 1-0 with a 4.32 ERA (12 ER/25.0 IP) and 28 strikeouts in five starts this season for the Dodgers. He was placed on the injured list following his last start when a blister flared up on his pitching hand.

In a corresponding move to make room for Buehler, the Dodgers optioned Scott Alexander to the alternate site. Alexander has been pretty good this season but is coming off of a tough outing against Arizona last night. He pitched 2/3 of an inning last night and allowed a two-run shot to Nick Ahmed. He has appeared in 13 games for the Dodgers this season, going 2-0 with a 2.92 ERA (4 ER/12.1 IP) and nine strikeouts.

Up Next for the Dodgers

The Dodgers play two more against the Diamondbacks before the Rockies get to town on Friday. Colorado will be here for a three-game set, and then Los Angeles heads off to Arizona for three more games against the Diamondbacks.
