Dodgers: Watch Cody Bellinger Challenge Dalvin Cook to an Axe Throwing Contest

Is this the strangest headline of 2020? Maybe not, but it’s in the running.

I don’t know what else to tell you, 2020 is a strange year. It’s strange enough that the Dodgers’ Cody Bellinger is making a cameo in a video game. And now, he’s challenging NFL running back Dalvin Cook to an axe-throwing competition in the process.

As part of a promo for the new Assassins Creed Valhalla game. Bellinger and the makers of the game sent a custom axe to the Minnesota Vikings running back. Watch as Cook accepts Cody’s challenge to nail three bullseyes on ten tries.

Cook ultimately takes home the win after nailing three bullseyes, it’s just a shame we don’t get to see Belli give it a shot. Given that the Dodgers outfielder is still on the mend to repair a shoulder that frequently dislocates, we’re fine with him not throwing axes any time soon.

Bellinger makes a short cameo in the game as a character called Otta Sluggasson. He is described in the game as “a Dane with a knack for hitting rocks very very far.” and carries a bat around with him. A little too on the nose for the Dodgers outfielder?

Bellinger and Cook also briefly talk about being a World Champion at the beginning of the video. fresh off of a World Series with the Dodgers, Bellinger can certainly attest to what it’s like to be a champion in professional sports. Perhaps video game champion is the next part of his list of things to conquer. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was released on November 10th and comes with a Mature gameplay rating.
