Dodgers: Why Shake Shack is Featured at Dodger Stadium Over In-N-Out

Dodgers fans were treated to a new food when they came to the stadium this week. The popular burger chain Shake Shack finally opened up in the centerfield plaza in the series against the Mainers. Naturally, the lines were packed with fans looking to try new food at the Ravine.

But it also led to some questions from Dodgers fans. Shake Shack is great, and I’m sure no one is complaining about the team adding that option. But In-N-Out is a SoCal favorite, and Shak Shack is a competitor of the local burger chain.

So the LA Times’ Bill Shaikin did a deep dive to find out why In-N-Out wasn’t the featured burger restaurant of the Dodgers. The answer might not really shock you at all, given the reputation of the company.

While we are thankful for the feedback we have received from loyal customers over the years suggesting that we open an In-N-Out Burger in the stadium of their favorite team, I don’t anticipate that we will expand into the concession business in the foreseeable future.-Denny Warnick, In-N-Out Executive Vice President

In-N-Out is one of those rare places that rely on word of mouth to grow their business. They don’t even have very many radio or television commercials in Southern California. But it certainly would explain why Dodgers fans don’t get the chance to eat it at the Ravine.

Regardless, it’s just good to see some new options at the stadium with the recent renovations. I don’t think Dodgers fans will ever complain about the food that they have available to them at games, but it was time to add in something big. Shake Shack is good.
