Former Dodgers Hyun-Jin Ryu and Kiké Hernandez Face Off and Share Smiles

Dodgers fans should get a smile out of this one. A pair of long-time Dodgers faced off against one another tonight in Dunedin, Florida (the temporary home of the Toronto Blue Jays). One time LA ace Hyun-Jin Ryu faced long-time Dodger utility man Kiké Hernandez in an at-bat that’s sure to get you a little emotional.

Here’s the AB in question.

For Dodger fans that were saddened to see these two guys leave LA — and there are a lot of them — it has to be a mini consolation that the two friends are still being productive around the league.

In 6 seasons with the Dodgers, Ryu had 54 wins and a 2.98 ERA in 126 games. And in his 6 seasons with LA, Hernandez hit .240 with 68 home runs in 648 games while saving his biggest homers for the postseason.

While Ryu didn’t get a ring for the 2020 World Series win, Kiké was fortunate enough to. He flashed it off on social media when he received it. So far, along with Hernandez, Joc Pederson was given his ring in Chicago a couple weeks ago and Dylan Floro was presented his over the weekend when Miami was in town. The Dodgers face the Giants in San Fransisco this weekend and should have rings for Alex Wood and Jake McGee. However, they may wait until the Giants come to LA the following weekend to officially present the rings in front of Dodgers Nation.

Pedro Baez, who joined the Houston Astros in the offseason may get his when the team goes to Houston next week.
