Former Dodgers’ Outfielder Matt Kemp Cut From Marlins

Dodgers fans were heartbroken the first time that Matt Kemp was traded away from Los Angeles. He was a part of the trade that sent Yasmani Grandal to Los Angeles, but Kemp eventually made his way back to LA in 2018.

When he came back to the Dodgers in 2018, he wasn’t even supposed to make the roster after Spring Training,. Many wondered if Los Angeles would just cut him in general before camp broke. But Kemp hung around and hit like a mad man, putting together a .290/.338/.481 slash line with 21 home runs and plenty of big moments. Kemp made the All-Star team but was traded to Cincinatti that winter.

The latest update for Matt Kemp is that it is very likely that he will not be on a roster this year. Kemp will be cut from the Marlins’ roster after they announced he was not invited to the summer camp, likely meaning he has been released. The former Dodgers’ outfielder is currently without a team if that’s the case.

With Kemp about to turn 36, many wonder if this will be it for him. There is not much of a market for players in their late 30’s that can really only provide a bat and veteran leadership in a 60-game season. However, it’s entirely possible that another team could consider him, and we hope that’s the case.

  1. Matt Kemp, thank you for the 2018 season. It was your single-handed performance that put us into the Post Season. Your WS homer capped off your Dodger career. Great way to say bye.

  2. I have always thought Matt camp was a great player, he’s one of the best and if the dodgers had any brains at all they would hire him back on the team put them on the roster that’s my opinion but I really think that’s what they should do 36 big deal look at or Orel hershiser he pissed till he was 41 come on you guys wake up and smell the coffee he’s a great player let’s get him back please

  3. It’s supposed to be Kemp, is microphones are horrible on these phones doesn’t matter how great a phone you have they all make mistakes everybody have a blessed day

  4. I think that Kemp had all the potential to be one of the great ones, but his negative attitude got in the way, like Lady Bowa said, he could be great if he only listened, but you can’t even talk to the kids. Players like that would always be in the way of winning, so ,sorry, hope Dodgers never bring him back

    1. If you cannot be accepting of a current or former Dodger player then get the hell out of town. Nobody here wants to a loser like you so why don’t go over to the losing Padres or Angels. I hear they have plenty of room for idiots like you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. Another snowflake dodger fan can’t ever accept reality and call it like it is. If a former coach of his is saying it you should respect it. It actually makes sense why those Dodgers teams fell short now, Kemp probably wasn’t the only young guy on those teams with an attitude and who didn’t listen

  5. I’ve known Matt since he was 7 or 8 and he has always had the want to. He’s alway been a good player . My son played ball with him. I don’t see why the Dodgers wouldn’t hire him back even if it is only to retire from where he started. They took him from high school and he may have an education but baseball is his life. I’m praying he doesn’t retire and someone picks him up Lord he gave y’all all his good years. Just cause he’s getting older doesn’t mean he can’t hit that ball or throw to home plate from centerfielder. He has been AWESOME. I know you’ll do what’s best for you and your mom cause you’ve had this all figured out since little league. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
