Game Preview: Dodgers at Giants

If the weather permits, the Dodgers and Giants will face off for the fifth time this season tonight. As it stands though, the outlook is not looking great. As of Thursday night, there is roughly a 100 percent chance of rain in San Francisco for Friday night.

If by some miracle the two teams are able to play, Kenta Maeda will take the hill for Los Angeles. Maeda will look to build off of his solid first outing from last weekend. Maeda went five strong innings against the Giants, allowing five hits and striking out ten.

On the other side Derek Holland will make the second start of his Giants tenure. Holland also went five innings last weekend against the Dodgers, allowing 3 earned runs and taking the loss.

The Giants are doing slightly better in terms of wins and losses than the Dodgers, at a 3-3 mark for the year. While their offense has struggled for the first couple of games of the year, they are coming off of a blowout victory against Seattle. Joe Panik, the thorn in the Dodgers side over the first few games, has been carrying his team in a big way. he is hitting .381 since the onset of the season.

Analysis

If they even get to play, it will be interesting to see how Maeda does after his great start. He carried a 4.22 earned run average last season, so perhaps this is the year he truly breaks out. And when the Dodgers need it the most.
