How are the Dodgers Doing?

The Dodgers dropped the series opener to the Cardinals, 5-3. Kenley Jansen returned to the team after missing close to three weeks to an irregular heartbeat. Jansen took home the loss after surrendering two home runs in the ninth innings.

The offense for Los Angeles also missed several opportunities to capitalize. They left 14 players on base and went 2-14 with runners in scoring position.

Why is this Game Important?

With Jansen back into the mix, the Dodgers bullpen should return to normalcy. During his absence, the bullpen blew seven straight leads and has blown 23 saves all season.

La Mirada product Daniel Poncedeleon faces Los Angeles for the first time in his career. He has made just one start this season, which came on his Major League debut on July 23. He threw seven no-hit innings in that outing. Since then, Poncedeleon has pitched out of the bullpen for the Cardinals.
