Hard Reset Time for Frustrated Dodgers, Finding Positives, Signing Albert Pujols & More! | Blue Heaven Podcast

It’s time for a hard reset for the struggling Los Angeles Dodgers. We discuss the recent tough stretch for the world champs and what could be an underlying cause for the poor results. We’re also joined by Dodgers Nation contributor, friend of the show, and resident “positive correspondent” for the Blue Heaven podcast, Gail Johnson, to talk about the team and help us try to get a little more of a positive outlook on the boys in blue.

Introducing a new weekly segment, presented by Vintage Brand, this week we ask the audience which former Dodger player from any era they would bring back if they could in the hopes that player could help get the team back on track. Clint, Brook, and Gail all weigh in.

Next, the guys talk about Corey Seager’s down year and wonder aloud if he really truly is a shortstop for the long term. To no one’s surprise, the numbers don’t back it up.

And finally, in MLB news, the Anaheim Angels released future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols from the final year of his 10-year mega deal with the team. Was it the right move? Yes and no? Should the Dodgers look at signing him, as several fans have called for online? What do you think!

  1. Personally, I love Albert. But he can’t even run to first base anymore. He needs to re-sign with the Cardinals on a short-term contract for a brief victory lap and then retire.

  2. Assuming the cost is low, signing Pujois as a RH pinch hitter would be ideal. However, the Angels released him because he wants to play every day and he’s no longer that guy.

  3. We don’t need another Boog Powel or Rocky Calivito. They were signed on to provide pinch hit power at the end of their careers. I don’t think either ever hit more than a double. Certainly no home runs. Take a pass on Albert. We have some young hard-hitting kids that deserve a shot. When your only allowed 10% capacity in your stadium, its not the time for a publicity stunt.

  4. We need to bat to get on base (hit em where they ain’t or go to the opposite field) not to go over the fences (and 99% fly out) and bring the baserunners home. We need to get a lead and ‘protect’ the lead. Right now the runs are scarce and leads are not protected. C’mon Blue get it together.

  5. The problem is pitching-particularly a horrible pen that blows leads. When you get 5 and 6 and 7 runs you should be able to win. Pujols can’t relieve!

  6. Roberts could solve the late inning pitching collapses by learning how to pitch out, learning to use Jansen ONLY against the bottom of the other teams order. Walk hot hitters with open bases, basically anything to avoid allowing 3 and 4 run innings. He needs to manage every game like its the World series…Every game instead of always trying to save someone from wearing down. This team gets injured more than ANY football team, pathetic…

  7. HELL NO WE DONT NEED ALBERT!!!!. THE LAST PLACE ANGELS DID NOT NEED HIM. A BROKEN
CRUTCH IS USELESS. CALM DOWN EVERYTHANG
WILL ROLL OUT SMOOTH A BAD THREE OR FOUR
WEEKS NOT A PROBLEM THIS IS DODGER BLUE.

  8. Signing Albert Pujols would make ZERO sense what-so-ever. Which is why Andrew Friedman will be holding a press conference any day now on Pujols signing with the Dodgers. Friedman’s an idiot, don’t put it past him.
