The air conditioning broke, so the fellas are hot, but so are the takes!

Another week, another reason to worry about Kenley Jansen in the closer role. Once again, Clint and Brook worry about the big man’s mental state after a struggle bus of a season.

Also on today’s show:

  • Joe Kelly Love
  • Belli’s Flop
  • Is Cody’s MVP slipping?
  • September Call Ups

Listen

The 9th inning continues to be the biggest question mark in 2019, and chances are that KJ74 is not prepared to continue closing until he gets some confidence back. With that, save considerations once again fall on Joe Kelly (before he served up a 3-run bomb in AZ)

In the middle segment, the talk is focused on Cody Bellinger and his perceived, but not talked about enough struggles have started to come to a head in August. With a batting average around .250 since the All-Star break, the question is asked: is he still the NL MVP? Brook shares his thoughts.

And in the final segment, the guys take an early look at September call ups while making some tough decisions on former friends of the show…

  1. Cody has come crashing down to earth. There are a dozen guys ahead of him in the M.V.P. race now. Ryu has come back to where he has been the lions share of his career. If the team makes it out of the playoffs it looks like another Dave Robert’s led team in their annual post-season collapse.

  2. Jansen gives up a key home run in the 8th and the Arizona’s lead became two runs. We pick up one run in the 9th and lose by one. More proof that any role for Jansen is suspect at best. With Kershaw’s and Ryu’s recent performances, the league figuring out how to pitch to Bellinger, Muncy possibly not returning fully healthy,Robert’s decision to keep Jansen as the closer, too much left handed starting pitching if Hill comes back and can start again,,it will be an early exit from post season this year, maybe in the first 5 game series against the wild card winner. We are looking more and more like the Braves of the 90’s. At least they one World Series after 14 tries. We just don’t match up against the powerhouse teams like the Yankees or Astros and will face a tough challenge from Washington, possibly the wild card winner. I hope I’m wrong.
