MLB Futures Game: All Three LA Prospects in Starting Lineup for Today’s Game

There’s a beefy appetizer menu leading up to the MLB All-Star Game this coming Tuesday. The Home Run Derby is set for Monday night at Dodger Stadium, with the MLB Draft taking place the day before at LA Live. But for fans that can’t get their fill of watching top prospects, the MLB Futures Game today is the dish of choice.

Three Dodgers prospects will all be taking the field for the NL team: Miguel Vargas, Diego Cartaya, and Bobby Miller.

Longtime Dodgers catcher Mike Scioscia, who spent his entire 13-year MLB career on the Dodgers, will be managing the NL side in the MLB Futures Game. Scioscia did the three LA prospects a solid by starting all of them in today’s game.

An all-Dodgers battery of Bobby Miller and Diego Cartaya will start things off for the NL team, with Vargas playing second base. Cartaya, the Dodgers top overall prospect, is batting ninth. Vargas is in the five-hole behind Cardinals prospect Jordan Walker.

The full lineups for each squad can be found here.

With Bobby Miller on the mound, the Dodgers are the only franchise to have three prospects in the starting lineup.

Cartaya rolled into the dugout at Chavez Ravine rocking a pair of Nike Ken Griffey Jr.’s before slipping on his spikes and taking some pregame hacks in the cage.

First pitch is set for 4PM PT and will only be broadcasted on Peacock. MLB Network will replay the game tomorrow.
