MLB Has Reportedly Come to a Conclusion in Boston Red Sox Cheating Investigation

There are plenty of things more important in the world right now than a cheating scandal in baseball. But the Red Sox are going to have to face the music one day soon, and it sounds like MLB has already decided that they have indeed broken the rules. In a statement on Friday morning, a team lawyer for Boston suggested that the league had come to a conclusion in their investigation.

When asked by a judge about admitting or not that the Red Sox violated the ruled, Lauren Moskowitz of Cravath, Swaine & Moore had a succinct answer.

We do not admit that.

Major League Baseball has yet to release a report on the alleged use of electronics in sign-stealing en route to the Red Sox 2018 World Series. Boston apparently did not agree with the findings of the league in the scandal but did admit to parts.

Your Honor, I think that there are distinctions between what the Red Sox believe occurred and what the commissioner found. And I think that certainly they’re entitled to disagree that that activity happened at the club level. Certainly, we did find on certain occasions in 2017, that this electronic device was used to communicate sign information.

With the denial, one could surmise that MLB has determined that Boston did in fact steal signs illegally but the league is holding on to its findings for now.

The Red Sox already fired team manager Alex Cora in the wake of the Astros’ cheating scandal and subsequent punishment earlier this year. They did so under the reasoning that Cora had cheated in association with the Astros, not the Red Sox.

It sounds like whenever baseball is able to come back, we should have a punishment for the Red Sox coming.

  1. When you make a punishment on the Red Sox they should be made to give up the World Series Title and give it to the Los Angles dodgers.

  2. I really think take the World Series title away from the Boston Red Socks should be made to give up the Title to The World Series and it be given to the Los Angles Dodgers. The Dodgers deserve it completely

    1. No. The Dodger players do not want any titles given to them this way and neither do their true fans. The 2017 Asstros’ WS title should be vacated. However, in 2018, the Red Sox were a much better team than the Dodgers and deserved to win that title. And this is coming from a Dodgers’ fan.

      1. Couldn’t agree more. 17 we were robbed, the stats they pulled against Kershaw was heart breaking 0 swing and misses out of 52. They should no doubt strip Houston of the title. Boston beat us no matter what.

  3. How about we have them replay the series under protest? With current rosters applicable : )

    1. Hey, not a bad idea.. And I bet a cash-cow for the league.. Only stipulation, only the Dodgers should be paid.. However, sadly enough, I believe the players-union would never agree…

  4. When its all said and done. The overriding fact remains, that Astro’s possession of the world series trophy is a slap-in-the-face to all that love the game of baseball and, nothing less than the league aid-and-abetting a act of fraud on the fans.

  5. I don’t think the Dodgers want the ’17 and ’18 World Series titles awarded to them. But, I am certain that they would like to see those titles vacated and the “metal” returned to the MLB office.

As for the players who cheated, they should be suspended for life. Using the 1919 Black Sox as precedent. JM

  6. This Bonston Red Sox cheating investigation has been going on for 5 months. MLB couldn’t find any proof, so they decided to create a hoax to save face. The fact is Red Sox didn’t cheat, neither did the Astros. We live in an era of fake news. Anyone can make up any story, as long as that story can get out to the public, it becomes fact. MLB and the media must stop this fake cheating scandal, enough is enough.

  7. Dodger fans got royally screwed twice. If it weren’t for Strat-O-Matic , I would say screw baseball!
