MLB News: Rob Manfred Officially Announces Cancellation of Regular Season Games

Today is the day baseball fans never wanted to see. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred officially cancelled the first two series of the 2022 MLB season after the league and MLBPA were unable to agree to a new CBA on Tuesday.

Safe to say, it’s a disappointing turn of events after Tuesday morning brought relative optimism that a deal could be reached. MLB and the MLBPA met for nine consecutive days to discuss the terms of a new agreement.

During his press conference, Manfred affirmed that the cancelled games will not be re-scheduled and that MLB players will not be paid for a full season.

Opening Day has officially been postponed.
