MLB News: Yankees Land Potential LA Trade Target Frankie Montas

The MLB trade deadline is officially off and running, with teams around the league making moves this afternoon. The deals started to trickle down early this morning and will continue all the way through tomorrow afternoon. Dodgers fans are hoping there’s some decent action for their team mixed in along the way.

But the biggest move of the deadline might have just come down. Frankie Montas was one of the most sought-after starters on the market this summer, and there were several MLB teams looking into him. He was just traded to the Yankees along with closer Lou Trivino this afternoon.

Montas, a former Dodgers prospect, heads to New York to join a juggernaut of a team. They already added Andrew Benintendi last week and Scott Effross from the Cubs this morning. They were already one of the World Series favorites, but these moves definitely move the needle for New York.

So if you’re a MLB team looking for a top starting pitcher, Luis Castillo is one of the few names left on the board. And you can bet that teams will be going after him hard over the course of the next 24 hours.
