Preview: Brett Anderson Looks To End Road Trip On Positive Note

The Los Angeles Dodgers came away with an extra-inning victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday and now look to win the finale of their 10-game road trip.

Taking the hill for the Dodgers is Brett Anderson. On the season, the southpaw pitcher is 4-4 with a 3.13 ERA in 15 starts. In his previous outing against the Miami Marlins Anderson tossed seven strong innings of one-run ball in which he allowed only five hits and one walk. Anderson also came away with a season high 10 strikeouts in the start.

Anderson’s 2.47 ERA ranks eighth in the Majors with a 2.47 ERA since the beginning of May and is looking for his first win against the Diamondbacks. The 27-year-old has faced them on four different occasions, and hasn’t come up with much to show for it — 0-1 record with a 3.91 ERA.

Anderson last faced the Diamondbacks at Chase Field April 10 and walked away with a no-decision after allowing three runs on five hits in six innings. The Dodgers went on to lose the game in extras.

Making the start for the Diamondbacks is southpaw Robbie Ray. The 23-year-old is 2-3 with a 1.98 ERA over six starts. Ray has lost his previous two outings and is looking to make a change against a Dodgers team he’s faced one in his young career.

On June 9, the Tennessee native threw allowed two runs in 6.2 innings and suffered a loss at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers loaded their lineup with a bevy of right-handed batters with Howie Kendrick figuring to pose the most formidable threat.

Kendrick leads the Dodgers with a .359 batting average with runners in scoring position and has been swinging a particularly hot bat over the last five games — more specifically when batting second in the order.
