After splitting a four-game series with the Chicago Cubs, the Los Angeles Dodgers head to Marlins Park to begin a three-game set with the Miami Marlins.

The Dodgers enter Friday’s contest with a 41-33 record, just one game ahead of the second place San Francisco Giants in a very tight National League West division. Meanwhile, the Marlins are cemented in fourth place in the National League East with a 30-44 record.

Left-hander Brett Anderson (3-4, 3.29 ERA) takes the mound for the first time this season against the Marlins and hopes to add to his impressive month of June to this point (four starts, 26.2 innings pitched, 3.04 ERA). In addition, he has tossed seven quality starts in ten opportunities since May 3.

On the opposite side, rookie Justin Nicolino (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will be making just the second start of his career. In his debut against the Cincinnati Reds, he pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out two batters.

Third baseman Justin Turner, receiving his sixth start in the last seven days, is in the midst of the best month of his career. In 23 games, he’s batting .352 with eleven extra-base hits and a 1.065 on-base plus slugging in 77 plate appearances.

Former Dodger Dee Gordon has somewhat struggled in the month of June, posting a slash line of .296/.296/.367 in 98 plate appearances thus far.

Right fielder Yasiel Puig will miss his third straight game tonight with a blister on his left hand. In more positive injury-related news, right-handed reliever Pedro Baez has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and will certainly provide a boost to the bullpen.
