Preview: Dodgers Look To Find Success Away From Home Vs. Brewers

Clayton Kershaw

The Los Angeles Dodgers leave the suddenly home run-friendly confines of Dodger Stadium after a 5-1 homestand to face the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park Monday night.

Chief among any storyline for the Dodgers is Clayton Kershaw going for his 100th career win. Fortunately for the Dodgers, their 27-year-old ace has been stellar against the Brewers, entering today’s game with a 4-0 record and 0.87 ERA at Miller Park.

If Kershaw gets the win he will become the second-youngest active pitcher to reach the 100-win milestone at 27 years and 46 days. Starting for the Brewers is Kyle Lohse, who’s in his third season with the Brewers after spending five with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Lohse has been far from the pitcher he was over the last few seasons as he enters Monday’s game with a 1-4 record and 7.28 ERA in five starts this season. He’s allowed at least four runs in four of the five starts and has a 1.32 WHIP.

For his part, Kershaw has been a notch below statistically from what he is accustomed to. He has a 1-2 record with a 3.73 ERA in five starts. However, he has allowed a combined five runs in his last three starts, compared to eight runs in his first two outings.

With the exceptions of Yasmani Grandal and Scott Van Slyke starting, the Dodgers send out the same lineup Monday as they did in the series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks; both Grandal and Van Slyke appeared in the 13-inning game.

Joc Pederson again bats leadoff and is looking to reverse his fortunes after going hitless and striking out three times in five at-bats in the Dodgers’ extra-innings win. The Dodgers added Daniel Coulombe to the bullpen ahead of Monday’s series opener, giving them four left-handed relievers.
