Yu Darvish and Cody Bellinger Lead Dodgers To A 4-1 Win

Winning feels great, right?

All the hoopla about that previous losing streak has vanished, and the team isn’t looking back. The Dodgers (94-52) are slowly getting their groove back, and picked up a big win Wednesday night at AT&T Park.

The offense was on full display, and the Giants weren’t prepared for the Dodgers to come out as the initial aggressors in the 1st inning.

It all started with production from baseball’s brightest young stars. Corey Seager was very assertive after being hit by a pitch, Yasiel Puig went 2-4 with a double, and Cody Bellinger unleashed havoc on Matt Moore’s pitches. Bellinger had an RBI triple in the 1st and also hit a 444-foot home run, giving him his 37th of the year.

The overall batting statistics were impressive, but Yu Darvish’s performance was exceptional. Darvish pitched his best game since the All-Star break, giving him a 3-3 record as a starter with the Dodgers.

He went seven innings and allowed no runs on just three hits!

His mental approach to the game seemed different in San Francisco. He’s worked hard with pitching coach Rick Honeycutt to primarily focus on locking in command and delivery for a full seven innings, which is something Dodgers Nation isn’t accustomed to seeing.

ESPN’s Jessica Mendoza had these things to say during Wednesday Night Baseball:

I feel like he’s a guy that’s very aware of his mechanics. He’s very aware of how much he thinks, and sometimes he over-thinks. There’s times where I want him to just go out and throw, like just get after it! You can tell he focuses a lot on trying to be perfect, every single pitch.

The pitching and batting production has to stay consistent from hear on out if the Dodgers want to win a World Series. They propelled past this week’s gut-check, and take their confidence into Washington Friday.
