After Wood set the Dodgers down in order in the third, Nick Markakis hit a one-out triple that was followed by an RBI-single by Chris Johnson to put the Braves back out in front, 3-2. Anderson’s day quickly came to an end in the third as he appeared to suffer an injury to his lower left leg/ankle region while fielding a roller.

Chin-hui Tsao took over with two outs and runners on first and second, and stranded both as he struck out Andrelton Simmons to end the inning. Scott Van Slyke led off the fourth with a walk. Then with one out, Hernandez smacked a single to center.

The Dodgers’ rally came to an end when Wood induced Barnes into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning. After striking out two in a scoreless fourth inning, Tsao batted for himself to lead off the fifth. He surprisingly hit a ground-rule double over Cameron Maybin’s head in straightaway center.

With one out and Tsao standing on third, Howie Kendrick’s RBI single tied the game at 3-3. Markakis continued to feast on Dodgers pitching as he led off the bottom of the fifth with a hustle double. Kris Johnson’s base hit put runners on the corners and knocked Tsao out of the game.

With Pedro Baez on the mound, Juan Uribe hit a bloop RBI single that Pederson nearly made a sliding catch on. Baez recorded a double play starting on snaring a line drive and ended the inning with the Braves ahead 4-3 on a Simmons fly out.

Adrian Gonzalez snuck a single by a diving Peterson to start the sixth. Wood then walked Van Slyke a second time in the game to put two on with no outs. The Braves left-hander recovered to retire the next three batters, including two by strikeout.

Ryan Lavarnway hit a one-out single off the right field wall in the bottom of the sixth and was easily thrown out by Puig attempting to stretch it to a double. Baez went on to strikeout the next two batters, keeping the Braves lead at 4-3 through six innings.

Alex Guerrero pinch-hit for Baez and was robbed by Maybin of a likely leadoff double. Wood then caught Pederson looking for strike three on a borderline pitch that drew the ire of the rookie center fielder. Jason Frasor replaced Wood and retired Kendrick on one pitch.

Joel Peralta gave up a two-out double and walked Uribe in the seventh before getting out of the inning without allowing the Braves to push a run across. Turner exchanged words with the home plate umpire after grounding out in an at-bat he disagreed with a called strike. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly came out to defend Turner and got ejected.

After Gonzalez reached on a Peterson error, Carl Crawford pinch-ran for the first baseman. Van Slyke went down looking on a pitch he believed to be was a ball and walked back to the dugout with frustrated body language. Puig worked a full count against Luis Avilan before lining out to left to end the inning.

The Dodgers failed to mount any semblance of a comeback in the ninth inning and lost a second consecutive game to the Braves.
