Grandal benefitted from Markakis making a bad read, which resulted in a leadoff double for the Dodgers catcher in the fifth. After Crawford’s productive out that moved Grandal to third, Callaspo hurt his former team by getting an RBI single by a drawn-in Braves infield to tie the game.

Rollins snapped his post-All-Star break 0-for-16 skid with an RBI double and Pederson added an RBI single to give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead. Bolsinger needed just 11 pitches to throw a shutdown inning in the fifth to keep momentum on the Dodgers’ side. He also retired nine consecutive batters to that point.

Teheran issued back-to-back one-out walks in the sixth inning, but the inning quickly came to an end as Crawford grounded into a double play on the first pitch of his at-bat. Bolsinger threw another quick inning in the bottom of the sixth, needing 10 pitches to retired the side while also getting some defensive help from Kendrick.

Bolsinger’s streak of retired batters ended at 14 as he issued a two-out walk to Pierzynski in the seventh. Callaspo helped his pitcher out by making a barehanded play on a Perez bunt attempt to end the inning. With two outs and Kendrick standing on first base, David Aardsma replaced Ross Detwiler.

Aardsma promptly walked pinch-hitter Scott Van Slyke to put two on with one out. The right-hander got out of the inning unscathed by striking out Grandal to keep the Dodgers’ lead at 3-1. Juan Nicasio and Kenley Jansen combined to record the final six outs of the game, with Jansen getting help from Callaspo.

The Dodgers’ closer issued a leadoff walk, then nearly gave up a likely double only for Callaspo to make a diving stop and throw to first base for the out. Jansen then struck out Johnson and pinch-hitter Juan Uribe to wrap up the Dodgers’ win.
