With one out in the bottom of the third, Joc Pederson lined a double past first baseman Brandon Belt. Pederson scored on Turner’s RBI double that got by a diving Aoki and Gonzalez added a second run in the inning with an RBI single to right-center field.

The momentum stopped there however, as Kendrick bounced into an inning-ending double play and the Dodgers trailed 4-3 heading into the fourth. Bolsinger refocused in the top of the fourth and struck out the side. Trying to capitalize on the quick inning, Andre Ethier led off the home half with a single.

After Grandal flied out on the first pitch of his at-bat, Rollins hit into an inning-ending double play. Heston singled up the middle to begin the fifth, spinning Bolsinger around and almost hitting him. The Giants’ right-hander was then erased on a 3-6 double play and Bolsinger ended the inning by catching Pagan looking after walking Panik.

Heston struck out Bolsinger on three pitches for the first out in the bottom of the fifth and needed only six more to retire Puig and Pederson for a scoreless inning. Belt and Brandon Crawford hit back-to-back one-out doubles, with Crawford’s scoring Belt and pushing the Giants’ lead to 5-3.

Bolsinger walked Matt Duffy on four pitches and gave way to Daniel Coulombe. The left-hander received help from his defense as Pederson made a diving catch in right-center field to rob Blanco of a likely extra-base hit and two RBIs. Coulombe then ended the inning by striking out Heston.

Batting third in the order for the first time this season, Turner led off the bottom of the sixth with his second double of the night. Belt snagged a Gonzalez liner in foul territory for the first out, which was followed by Panik making a diving stop and throw to rob Kendrick of an RBI base hit.

After throwing one ball to Ethier, Heston was replaced by left-hander Jeremy Affeldt. The Dodgers countered with Scott Van Slyke as a pinch-hitter and the right-handed slugger flied out to end the inning. The Giants loaded the bases with one out in the seventh and scored a run on Crawford’s walk with two outs.

Duffy promptly hit a two-run single and Blanco’s RBI single pushed the Giants’ lead to 9-3 before Josh Ravin managed to get out of the inning. Turner hit a two-out solo home run in the eighth and the Dodgers scored another in the ninth on Alberto Callaspo’s pinch-hit RBI single.

With two on and two outs, Santiago Casilla was called on to record the final out and the Dodgers lost to their rival, 9-5. The win was the Giants eighth in 10 meetings against the Dodgers this season.

  1. Fire Mattingly. Tinkering way too much with line-up. Can not beat the Giants our rival. Need a shake up with a new coach.
