Alex Guerrero legged out an infield single with one out in the third inning, but came up lame and was removed with a left calf strain. Jimmy Rollins entered as a pinch runner, and the Dodgers went on to load the bases with two outs. However, Adrian Gonzalez was unable to capitalize and the score remained 10-0 in the Diamondbacks’ favor.

Yimi Garcia allowed a one-out single in the third, but managed to throw the first scoreless inning on the night for the Dodgers. Jim Johnson entered in the fourth and was hurt by a Justin Turner throwing error that allowed Owings to reach with one out.

Tomas followed with a base hit to put runners on the corners for Ahmed, who hit an RBI double to give the Diamondbacks an 11-0 lead. Joel Peralta worked around an Inciarte leadoff single in the bottom of the fifth by proceeding to strikeout the side. Enrique Burgos walked Turner to open the sixth inning and later put Seager on base with two outs.

However, the Diamondbacks’ shutout remained intact as Ellis flied out to end the inning. Ian Thomas entered in the bottom of the sixth and gave up a two-out double to Ahmed, followed by an RBI single to Peter O’Brien. Thomas then tossed a scoreless seventh inning, though the Dodgers’ deficit remained a daunting 12-0.

Justin Ruggiano hit a grand slam with two outs in the ninth, but there wouldn’t be any comeback as the Dodgers lost, 12-4.

  1. Johnson, Baez, got to go. They have not proved they can keep the opposite team from scoring. It’s like putting gasoline to STOP a fire. Whatever management is trying to prove, it’s only proving these guys can’t handle adversity.

Put them down to make room for someone else who might be more deserving at this level.

Any scientists out there that can tell me how so many players are injuring their hamstring’s this late into the season? Obviously Mattingly doesn’t pressure these MAJOR LEAGUER’S that if you want to play in “The Show” you must keep in “Game Shape” to do so or you are no good to the team.

Maybe this team needs to try yoga and stretch those hammies to their full potential.

  2. Excellent two man rotation with Greinke, and Kershaw, ,followed by two somewhat marginal pitchers in Bolsinger ,and Anderson.. their two bright shiny new acquisitions Latos and Woods, and Johnson are leaving big oil stains all over their drive way,and then to add to the misery a bull pen of rookies ,and reclamation projects. Inuries or no injuries you tell if you think The front office has done a great job in filling in holes ? If this 2nd market group stays intact,in the front office, the Dodgers are destined to dumpster ,and bargain hunting in the free agent season and at trade deadlines ! and this is a team that just got fat of a $ 3 billion plus T.V. contract ?
