Webster was unable to get a sacrifice bunt down and Bolsinger kept the Diamondbacks off the scoreboard by inducing two ground ball outs. Andre Ethier and Grandal extended the Dodger lead with back-to-back solo home runs to in the fourth inning. Then with two outs, Pederson blasted a solo home run to deep right-center field and the Dodgers’ lead grew to 4-0.

Los Angeles threatened for more on a Kendrick two-out walk and Turner base hit that put runners on the corners. Oliver Perez replaced Webster and got the Diamondbacks out of trouble by inducing Gonzalez into a foul out. After Bolsinger retired the first two batters faced in the bottom of the fourth, vice president of medical services Stan Conte paid a visit to the mound to check on the pitcher.

Bolsinger remained in the game to retire the side in order. Puig drew a leadoff walk in the fifth and Grandal’s base hit put two on with one out. Then with two down, Alex Guerrero pinch-hit for Bolsinger and struck out swinging. It was later reported Bolsinger was removed due to flu-like symptoms.

Joel Peralta took over the pitching duties and gave up a two-run home run to Ahmed, which cut the Dodgers’ lead to 4-2 before he could end the inning. Andrew Chafin tossed a scoreless fifth inning, retiring the Dodgers in order.

Yimi Garcia entered in the bottom of the sixth and gave up back-to-back hits with the latter being a game-tying two-run home run to Yasmany Tomas. A fan in the front row of the left field stands reached over and interfered with the ball, but the call was upheld after a rather lengthy review.

Chafin issued a leadoff walk to Gonzalez, then got Puig to chase ball four on a full count for the first out. Ethier lined a one-out double down the first base line that skipped off Goldschmidt’s glove. After intentionally walking Grandal to load the bases, Chafin gave up a two-run single to Jimmy Rollins that gave the Dodgers a 6-4 lead.

Grandal was thrown out attempting to go first to third on the base hit, and the inning came to an end on pinch-hitter Alberto Callaspo’s ground out. Juan Nicasio retired the first two batters faced in the bottom of the seventh before getting the Dodgers into a jam.

Cliff Pennington knocked a pinch-hit single to center, which was followed by an A.J. Pollock base hit. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly brought the hook for Nicasio, but Adam Liberatore didn’t fare much better. The Diamondbacks pulled off a double steal, then tied the game on David Peralta’s two-run triple on a ball that rolled to the left-center field wall.

Liberatore intentionally walked Goldschmidt before turning the ball over to Pedro Baez, who struck out Tomas to end the inning. Kendrick hit a one-out single off Enrique Burgos in the eighth, but was stranded by Turner and Gonzalez.

Baez issued a leadoff walk to Jake Lamb in the bottom of the eighth and it immediately hurt the Dodgers as Welington Castillo’s RBI double gave the Diamondbacks a 7-6 lead. They added another run on Baez’s throwing error after he fielded Chris Owings’ bunt.

After Baez walked a batter to put runners on the corners with two outs, J.P. Howell entered and promptly walked the bases loaded. Goldschmidt added to the Diamondbacks’ lead with a two-run single to left before Howell could get out of the inning.

The Dodgers were unable to overcome their four-run deficit in the ninth and fell to 4-4 on their road trip. The loss also snapped the Dodgers’ seven-game winning streak against the Diamondbacks this season.
