It was unsuccessful however, and the Rockies took a 3-2 lead. De La Rosa helped himself by hitting Kershaw’s 30th pitch of the inning into center field for a two-run base hit. Kershaw then got Blackmon to ground out and the Dodgers trailed 5-2 after four innings.

The five-run inning was the first for Kershaw since his brief outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks on May 17, 2014. De La Rosa’s control issues surfaced again in the sixth as he walked the bases loaded with no outs.

De La Rosa got his first pitch to Gonzalez over for strike, but his next was sent down the right field line for a bases-clearing double that tied the game at 5-5. De La Rosa gave way to Christian Bergman, who caught Guerrero looking for the first out.

After Bergman walked Heisey, Hernandez lined out to LeMahieu and he doubled off Gonzalez at second base to end the inning. Rollins took care of a grounder and made a diving catch for the first two outs in the bottom of the sixth.

An Arenado chopper ate up Guerrero and bounced down the line for a two-out double. Kershaw intentionally walked Rosario to face Hundley and the Rockies’ catcher grounded out to end the inning.

Bergman walked Pederson and Rollins with two outs in the top of the sixth. The Rockies reliever narrowly avoided a bases loaded situation with Gonzalez due up as Arenado beat Pederson to third base by half a step on a Kendrick grounder.

Pederson was initially ruled safe, but the Rockies successfully challenged the call to get a reversal and end the inning. Ynoa reached on an infield single with one out that Guerrero had no play on. Kershaw walked pinch-hitter Michael McKenry to put two on with one out and later walked LeMahieu on a borderline pitch to load the bases with two outs.

Ball four to LeMahieu was Kershaw’s 110th pitch of the game and he was replaced by Pedro Baez. The hard-throwing right-hander answered the bell by striking out Tulowitzki to leave the bases loaded and keep the game tied.

Christian Friedrich and Scott Oberg combined to strikeout the side in the seventh in what was a quiet inning for the Dodgers offense. Rosario singled up the middle with one out in the bottom half of the inning, however he was quickly erased on a force out.

With an 0-2 count against Hundley, Baez caught Stubbs between first and second base to end the inning. Hernandez led off the eighth with a base hit to left field and he was moved into scoring position by Ellis’ sac-bunt.

Hernandez then took third base on Oberg’s first pitch to pinch-hitter Justin Turner that got by Hundley. Where Hernandez was on the basepaths was deemed irrelevant as Turner hit a go-ahead two-run home run into the Dodgers’ bullpen.

Pederson drew his third walk of the game and went first to third on Rollins’ flare single into right-center field. Kendrick tacked on another run with base hit that caught the right field line chalk and the Dodgers lead grew to 8-5.

Gonzalez hit a shallow fly ball in center field that turned into a sac-fly as Rollins alertly tagged on the play once Tulowitzki turned his back to the infield to make the catch giving the Dodgers a 9-5 lead.

Adam Liberatore came on in the bottom of eighth and tossed a scoreless inning behind a strikeout and two ground outs. The left-hander also recorded the first out in the bottom of the ninth before turning the ball over to Yimi Garica.

Garcia struck out the two batters he faced to wrap up the Dodgers’ 9-5 win. The victory was the Dodgers’ eighth consecutive over the Rockies in a streak that dates back to last season. Moreover, the Dodgers remain undefeated this season when scoring four or more runs.
