Kennedy walked Turner with two outs in the fourth and ended the inning by getting Ethier to ground out. The Padres didn’t manage anything in the bottom half as they were put away in order. Grandal flied out to left, Jimmy Rollins struck out and Greinke grounded to third in an easy fifth inning for Kennedy.

With Turner playing in on the grass, Corey Spangenberg hit a liner over his head for a leadoff single in the bottom of the fifth. Alexi Amarista followed with an infield single, but his chopper hit Spangenberg, resulting in an out on the play. Amarista stole second base, where he was stranded by Kennedy and Myers, who both struck out swinging.

Puig hit a one-out single in the sixth only for it to be followed by an Adrian Gonzalez fly out and Howie Kendrick strikeout. Venable hit a leadoff single in the bottom of the sixth, then was erased on a force out after Rollins made a wonderful diving stop on Upton’s grounder.

With the go-ahead run still on base, Kemp hit a more tailor-made double play ground ball to Rollins that the veteran shortstop tossed to Kendrick, who threw to Gonzalez, sending the game to the seventh tied at 1-1. Kennedy continued to sail along by retiring Turner, Ethier and Grandal in order.

After striking out Yonder Alonso looking for the first out in the seventh, Greinke had to work himself out of trouble. Norris reached on a broken-bat single to shallow center field and Spangenberg drew a walk to put two on with one out. Amarista grounded into a force out, which left runners on the corners with two down.

Yangervis Solarte pinch-hit for Kennedy and flied to left on a 2-1 pitch. Brandon Maurer took over for the Padres in the eighth and threw a scoreless inning of relief. Greinke fielded a bunt single attempt and softly-hit comebacker before giving up a solo home run to Upton on a full count.

Craig Kimbrel entered in the ninth and gave up a leadoff single to Puig before closing out the Padres’ 4-3 win, snapping the Dodgers’ four-game winning streak.
