Pitching with a 5-0 lead, Harvey continued to sail, throwing another scoreless inning in the fourth. Jimmy Rollins got the Dodgers on the board in the fifth inning with a solo home run; the home run was his third in as many games.

Just as quickly as the Dodgers cut into their deficit, Lee gave the run back in the bottom of the fifth on a Johnson solo home run that reached the upper deck in right field and pushed the Mets’ lead to 6-1. Conforto followed with a double and it marked the end of Lee’s night at 90 pitches over 4.2 innings.

Chin-hui Tsao entered and promptly gave up an RBI double to Nieuwenhuis, who improved to 3-for-3 on the night with four RBIs. After Kevin Plawecki was intentionally walked, Harvey helped himself with an RBI double down the third base line, extending the Mets lead to 8-1.

Pederson hit a line-drive solo home run in what was otherwise a quiet sixth inning for the Dodgers. The home run was Pederson’s 21st of the season, first since June 29, and cut the Dodgers’ deficit to 8-2.

In keeping with the home run derby feel of the game, Daniel Murphy and Lucas Duda both hit home runs in the bottom of the sixth. Murphy’s was of the two-run variety, while Duda’s was a solo shot and the result was the Mets’ lead swelling to 11-2.

Conforto and Nieuwenhuis followed consecutive singles and Tsao was removed as part of a double switch. Austin Barnes and Josh Ravin formed the new battery, which kicked Grandal out to first base to give Gonzalez, who’s battling a stiff neck, the rest of the night off.

Ravin struck out Plawecki, but then gave up an RBI single to Harvey. The Dodgers’ night was perfectly encompassed on Granderson’s strikeout that got away from Barnes, allowing a run to score and the inning to continue. Nothing more came of it, but the Mets carried a 13-2 lead to the seventh.

Duda hit a home run in the bottom of the seventh, his second of the game, and the Mets tacked on another run on as Ravin issued a walk with the bases loaded. Pederson hit a leadoff double in the eighth, but there was nothing doing for the Dodgers in the remainder of that inning or the ninth, and they ended up with a lopsided 15-2 loss.
