Rumor Mill: Dodgers Set Sights On Ryan Dempster
Danny Knobler from CBSSports.com tweets:
@DKnobler – Dodgers are definitely interested in Cubs’ Dempster, as they were 2 years ago. Back then, he didn’t want to leave, and Cubs didn’t trade him.
While Danny isn’t known for his hair style, he has covered baseball for a long time.
The Cubs aren’t competing this year, and Ryan Dempster is in the final season of his contract, making $14 million this season.
In 11 starts across the 2012 campaign Dempster owns a 2.31 ERA.
The Cubs have said they aren’t against extending Dempster, who has full no trade protection.
Would Dempster be willing to waive his no trade clause to play for a competitor and work on his market value?
Ned Colletti sure thinks so, and apparently intends to find out.
