Sights and Sounds of Spring Training: February 18-20
Welcome back to the Sights and Sounds of Spring Training series!
Over the last few days, a lot has happened around camp. Position players have finally reported!
Don Newcombe
First of all, some of the biggest news surrounding the Dodgers organization was the passing of the legendary Don Newcombe. So many of the current and former Dodgers players were inspired by the love of the franchise and the game of baseball that he held forever.
Around the Horn
Some news regarding Andrew Toles’ future surfaced, stating that he will not be joining the team in Spring Training in the foreseeable future due to personal reasons.
In this video, Dave Roberts outlines that as well as a variety of other instances in camp about Alex Verdugo, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Corey Seager. and more.

Julio threw a live session.
Ryu is reportedly toying with a slider.
D. Mountain was doing D. Mountain things.

Max Muncy/Russell Martin
We know the Dodgers love their versatility. Muncy was seen taking grounders at second (normal) and Martin was seen taking grounders at third (!!!).
Max Muncy is taking grounders at 2B with Taylor/Hernandez. #Dodgers Dave Roberts said Muncy will play there some in spring games and is “a possibility” to play there during season. How much? “To be determined”

In other National League West third baseman news, Russell Martin is taking groundballs at third right now.

Kenley Jansen
This week, Jansen lost his good friend and mentor and took to Twitter to show his gratitude to the late Don Newcombe. He even changed his profile picture to Newk.
