Yimi Garcia took the mound in the sixth. He allowed a solo home run to center to Susac, but was able to finish the inning without any more runs. The Giants led 5-3 as replacements Justin Turner and Darwin Barney grounded out, and Kike Hernandez flied out to right for a quick inning.

Mike Adams was the new pitcher for the seventh. He allowed a lead off single before retiring the next three batters, including a strike out to Brandon Belt. Javier Lopez replaced Giant starter Chris Heston and made quick work of the Dodgers, retiring Heisey, Guerrero and Pederson in order.

David Aardsma replaced Adams in the eighth inning and shut down the Giants, including two strikeouts. The offense one again went down in order in the bottom half.

In the top of the ninth, Chin-Hui Tsao took over on the mound. The right-hander quickly got into trouble with a leadoff walk followed by a single. After a force-out, another single put the score at 6-3. Duffy then hit a triple that scored two more runs to make it 8-3.

The Dodgers were able to get one run in the bottom half, but still fell by a score of 9-4.
