Chris Paul Says He’ll Continue To Support Dodgers

[new_royalslider id=”311″] Throughout the season, Dodger Stadium has hosted several celebrities and athletes, who have been well-recepted when shown on the big screen. However, that hasn’t held true for Chris Paul.

For the most part, Los Angeles is considered a city dominated by Lakers fans and Paul, who plays for the Los Angeles Clippers, has been met by boos at Chavez Ravine on multiple occasions. Paul was at Saturday’s Game 2 of the National League Division Series between the Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals, Paul again drew the ire of those in attendance.

During a break between innings, Larry King, Magic Johnson and other public figures were shown on the Jumbotron and applauded. When Paul was shown, boos were once again rained down on the point guard. Paul admitted to initially not understanding the rough treatment before being informed Dodgers and Lakers fans are often one in the same, via Melissa Rohlin of the LA Times:

The first time I was surprised. Then it might have been you that told me, it’s all the Lakers fans that are at the games.”

Despite not being welcomed by the fans at Chavez Ravine, Paul said it wont deter him from supporting the Dodgers:

That don’t mean I’m going to stop cheering.”

One tie the All-Star point guard has to the team is a friendship with Matt Kemp; Paul also attended Clayton Kershaw’s Ping Pong 4 Purpose charity event in September. Kemp hit a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning of Game 2, which Paul said gave him chills:

I actually got chills because that was a big play, and a huge win for the Dodgers.”

With the series tied and shifting to St. Louis for Games 3 and 4, it’s plausible Paul attended his final game this year. However, the Dodgers can either leave the door open for him to attend a game during the NLCS or a potential Game 5 with the Cardinals.
