Dodgers 2018 MLB Draft Recap: Pitchers Everywhere

Between June 4-6, the Dodgers changed the lives of several individuals as they drafted players into the organization. After selecting J.T. Ginn in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft, the Dodgers followed the trend of drafting pitchers early. They also depended on college talent, selection only five high school talents throughout the draft. Here are the rest of their draft selections:

Round 2: Michael Grove (RHP)- West Virginia

In the second round, they selected right-handed pitcher Michael Grove out of West Virginia University.



Grove posted a 3.13 ERA in 92 innings through his first two years in college before missing this season to Tommy John surgery. He has a mid-90s fastball and an above average slide, but the question remains with his recovery from the surgery.

 

Round 3: John Rooney (LHP)- Hofstra

In the third round, the Dodgers took left-handed pitcher John Rooney from Hofstra University in New York. He posted a 5.21 ERA through his first two years before posting an ERA of 1.23 during his junior year. He also threw a combined no-hitter this season against Mount St. Mary’s

Round 4: Braydon Fisher (RHP)- Clear Falls HS (TX)

The Dodgers took another pitcher, selecting Braydon Fisher out of Clear Falls High School in Texas. He possesses a fastball/slider combination and is currently committed to Lamar University.

Round 5: Devin Mann (2B)- Louisville

Finally, in the fifth round, the Dodgers selected a position player in the draft with Devin Mann out of the University of Louisville. Although he is a second baseman, the Dodgers announced him as a shortstop. Over his three years, he hit .288 with 15 home runs and 113 RBI in 167 games.

Round 7: James Outman (OF)- Sacramento State

Round 8: Luke Heyer (2B)- Kentucky

Round 9: Josh McLain (OF)- North Carolina State

Round 10: Deacon Liput (2B)- Florida

 

Round 11: Stephen Kolek (RHP)- Texas A&M

Round 12: Hunter Feduccia (C)- LSU

Round 13: Dillon Paulson (1B)- USC

Round 14: Brandon White (RHP)-W.F. West HS (WA)

Round 15: Julian Smith (LHP)- Catawba Valley CC

Round 16: Trey Dillard (RHP)- San Jacinto College North

Round 17: Aldrich De Jongh (OF)- Hillsborough CC

Round 18: Niko Hulsizer (OF)- Morehead State

Round 19: Sam McWilliams (OF)- Meridian CC

Round 20: Caleb Sampen (RHP)- Wright State

 

Round 21: Tre Todd (C)- Liberty

Round 22: Simon Landry (1B)- Pearl River CC

Round 23: Justin Hagenman (RHP)- Penn State

Round 24: Jacen Roberson (OF)- Garces Memorial HS (CA)

Round 25: Hunter Speer (RHP)- William Carey

Round 26: Aaron Ackerman (C)- Illinois Chicago

Round 27: Connor Mitchell (LHP)- Butler

Round 28 Reza Aleaziz (RHP)- Oklahoma State

Round 29: Daniel Robinson (OF)- Central Michigan

Round 30: Matt Cogen (OF)- Belmont

 

Round 31: Andrew Shaps (LHP)- William Jessup

Round 32: Jacob Gililand (RHP)- Next Level Academy (AL)

Round 33: Drew Avans (OF)- Southeastern Louisiana

Round 34: Austin Drury (LHP)- North Florida

Round 35: Tyler Reichenborn (OF)- Iowa Western CC

Round 36: Jeremiah Vision (OF)- Golden West College

Round 37: Jon Littell (OF)- Oklahoma State

Round 38: Connery Peters (RHP)- Joshua HS (TX)

Round 39: Jordan Myrow (OF)- San Jacinto College North

Round 40: Ben Specht (LHP)- Evangelical Christian School (FL)
