Miles Mikolas Gets Rocked Against ‘Checkbook Baseball’ Dodgers on Opening Day
Miles Mikolas called the Dodgers out earlier this month for playing “checkbook baseball” this offseason. He also said he wanted to “stick it” to them when he faced them.
Fortunately for Mikolas, he got that opportunity early, as he was the St. Louis Cardinal’s Opening Day starter with Sonny Gray opening the season on the injured list.
Unfortunately for him, he didn’t exactly stick it to the Dodgers.
Mikolas lasted just 4.1 innings, and allowed five earned runs on seven hits with two walks.
He allowed two home runs — one to Mookie Betts and one to Freddie Freeman — and left with a 5-1 deficit.
Mikolas now has a 10.38 ERA to open the 2024 season, not exactly the start he was looking for.
As for the Dodgers’ offense, they did their job, as they look to win their second Opening Day of the season after beating the San Diego Padres to open the 2024 season in Korea.
