OKC Dodgers Hire New Hitting Coach

In the midst of rumors and other deals occurring during the Winter Meetings this week, other news came about at in the Dodgers organization at the Triple-A level. The Oklahoma City Dodgers announced they have hired former Rangers and Orioles coach Scott Coolbaugh to be hitting coach.

Adam Melhuse served as the OKC Dodgers hitting coach last season. That was his first and only season in that position. Scott Coolbaugh will replace Melhuse in the same role. Coolbaugh played 4 seasons as a major leaguer that included time with the Rangers, Padres, and Cardinals.

Scott Coolbaugh’s previous stops along the way as a coach were with multiple teams, including the hitting coach for Oklahoma City Redhawks in 2009 and 2010. That was back when OKC was affiliated with the Texas Rangers. So no surprise on the Coolbaugh hire considering he’s spent some time in this city. He also spent time at the major league level as the hitting coach for the Rangers and Orioles.
