Signing Off As The Editor In Chief of Dodgers Nation

In just about a week I’ll be on a one-way plane to New York to work for the New York Mets. I’ll be working in the marketing and communications department, and I couldn’t be more excited! However, it wouldn’t be happening if it wasn’t for my time with Dodgers Nation.

I began my journey in May of 2016 as an intern with a passion for baseball and the Dodgers… And that’s about it. I was studying business at Whittier College with the hope of someday working for the Los Angeles Dodgers. I didn’t care in what capacity at the time; I just knew that the Los Angeles Dodgers was the end-goal. I saw this posting for an internship with Dodgers Nation and figured that it could be my first step, and I couldn’t have been more right.

I worked hard and learned as much as I could about everything from journalism to digital marketing. Thankfully, my efforts were rewarded in July of 2016 when I was promoted to Senior Editor of Dodgers Nation. Long nights followed, and I mean long. I would be up until three in the morning prepping my day or trying to find a way that I could improve. I’d ask a ton of questions – sorry Gary and Elisa – just to make sure that I was producing nothing but quality.

My journey with Dodgers Nation continued as a behind-the-scenes manager of sorts, offering support to Gabe Burns and Trevor Vernola. However, I’m happy that I was able to end it as the Editor in Chief, which is a position I officially took on in September. The experience that I have gained through Dodgers Nation went above and beyond my expectations. As I said, I would not have gotten this opportunity with the New York Mets if it weren’t my time with Dodgers Nation.

With that said, I am most thankful for the relationships that I have made and the community that I was a member of. I got to edit and read amazing posts by the likes of Jody Wahl, Brandon Knudsen, Gail Johnson, Brian Robitaille, and Blake Coble, just to name a few. I got to be jealous of @DodgersAndyInPA’s beautiful views, follow along @dodgers_randi’s countdown, and laugh at all of @Doyerpls’ tweets. I was able to work with some talented people like Elisa Hernandez, Gabe Burns, Trevor Vernola, and Hunter Thompson. Believe it or not, I’ll even miss “Fraudman Twitter” and the multitude of angry fans that used our Twitter and Facebook as a place to vent their frustrations.

I was a member of this community through the Dodgers Nation Twitter account, but that is over now. You can follow me on Twitter at @APerez_55 for lukewarm Dodgers takes and to see if I survive the cold that is New York City in January. Again, thank you to Gary and everybody that I have gotten to know. I’ll be forever thankful for my time with Dodgers Nation and everything that it gave me.

I am passing on the baton to Cesar Becerra. I’m confident that it will be in good hands with him, so please welcome him with open arms. I’m looking forward to following along from the east coast, Cesar!

First off I’d like to start by saying a huge congratulation to Alex on an incredible opportunity to work with the New York Mets. It’s no doubt your presence will be missed at Dodgers Nation, but I’m looking forward to what you make of your opportunities on the East coast. Good luck out there and don’t forget that the Dodgers are your first love and the Mets can never take you away from our fanbase!

That being said, I do want to say I’m incredibly excited to help in the role of a senior editor position with Dodgers Nation. Dodgers Nation has the best fanbase a site can ask for, and I can’t wait to interact with all of you during my tenure here at Dodgers Nation.

I started with Dodgers Nation back in June of 2016 as a contributing writer. As the case with Alex, my start with Dodgers Nation opened the opportunity to work as the lead expert over at Dodgers Way. I covered the Dodgers with well-thought-out editorials for all of last season, and like many of you, I was heartbroken with the outcome of last season.

But just as the future is bright for the current Dodger team, I believe the future is bright for Dodgers Nation. The current team that Dodgers Nation has is full of great writers and minds that think out of the box. I’m looking forward to working with this new team to continue to bring our followers original content.
