Spring Training 2019, High Praise for Buehler, and Bold Comments from Andrew Friedman | This Week in Dodgers Nation

Pitchers and catchers reported to Camelback Ranch this week, marking the end of another short, but long feeling off-season for the Dodgers.

Dodgers Twitter recapped the week appropriately:

The week started with some love for the Dodgers pitching staff, just ahead of the official report day.

Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw was one of the first to take the mound at CBR, throwing to Russell Martin for the first time in close to 10 years.

Our AJ Gonzalez suggested that the Dodgers may have the best number 3 starting pitcher in baseball.

Tim Rogers checked out the top 5 under the radar starting pitchers in the Dodgers system.

Dodger outsiders were again preaching that the Dodgers need to add Bryce Harper.

Bold Statements at Camelback Ranch

Dave Roberts chatted at his first media scrum of the week and said that he didn’t see any weaknesses for the club heading into camp.

Andrew Friedman echoed a similar sentiment, adding that the 2019 club has “a chance to be an elite team.”

Roberts also took time to address some questions regarding the catching position, and expanded on the Bellinger plan for 2019.

Furthermore, Cody spoke highly of himself after arriving to camp early.

Clayton Kershaw and Justin Turner both had some commentary on the issues facing MLB free agency.

And while not at CBR, former Dodgers 3B coach, and new Texas Rangers manager Chris Woodward made some incredibly questionable statements about his old club.

Corey Seager

The 2016 ROY looked to be in good spirits and great condition when arriving at camp. Dave Roberts had some positive updates on the 24 year old.

Moreover, Corey backed up that positive feeling by putting in some work with the glove, and with the bat.

However, our AJ was back to help explore contingency plans, if Corey isn’t ready to go for opening day.

Walker Buehler

“The Buehldog” (I’m not letting that go) was one of the last players to throw their first bullpen of the spring.

Dave Roberts spoke on the status of both Buehler and Julio Urias, and the work load plans for the upcoming season.

Beyond that, Clayton Kershaw made some glowing remarks about the 24 year old ace.

And our Marshall Garvey opines that Buehler could be the co-ace to bring greatness back out of Clayton Kershaw.

Dodger Baseball is back
