Trade Alert: Dodgers Deal LoCastro to the Yankees

Speedster Tim Locastro’s time with the Dodgers organization has come to an end with a trade to the Yankees. The Dodgers dealt him on Wednesday for a pitching prospect and some cash considerations.

Tim Locastro was designated for assignment on Tuesday in order to get a few prospects protected from the rule 5 draft. All told, he logged 15 plate appearances with Los Angeles at the big league level and had two hits. He also stole five bases serving mostly as a pinch-runner in high leverage scenarios. Locastro had pretty good success in the minor leagues though. He hit 279 with an OBP of 389 and 18 stolen bases in his 83 AAA games for 2018.

The Dodgers in return got Drew Finely, a pitching prospect. Finley has not made it past A-ball with the Yankees organization and has struggled for his entire professional career. He was a third-round pick back in 2015 for the Yankees. He is originally from San Diego, where he was drafted out of high school. Finley’s father is the Dodgers’ VP of Amateur Scouting.
