VIDEO: 11 Ejected In Ogden Raptors Brawl With Idaho Falls

The second most notable fact about the Los Angeles Dodgers’ rookie league affiliate Ogden Raptors’ game last night was that it lasted 16 innings. The most notable fact about that same game was, in the 10th inning, a brawl started when a pair of players arguing led to the team’s managers getting into a fight at home plate.

It all started when Justin Chigbogu went down swinging for the second out in the top of the 10th. As he began walking back to the dugout, he and Chukar’s catcher Pedro Gonzalez exchanged words. Chigbogu stopped and turned around, which led to both benches clearing.

While the two players jawed at one another, Ogden’s manager Jack McDowell and Chukar’s manager Omar Ramirez got into an even hotter confrontation, which led to McDowell allegedly throwing a punch at Ramirez, causing both teams to began pushing and shoving around the pitcher’s mound.

When the dust settled, McDowell, along with four of his players (Justin Chigbogu, Julian Leon, Colin Hering and Theo Alexander), as well as Idaho Falls manager Ramirez and two of his players, to be removed from the game. McDowell almost certainly faces a suspension and will likely be punished within the week. This comes just three days after Erisbel Arruebarrena started a brawl between Triple-A Albuquerque and the Reno Aces that led to 11 suspensions.

  1. According to the Umpire’s report, it was Omar Ramirez who threw the first punch. I know Jack McDowell is a better story, but you might want to get your facts straight.

    1. Omar Ramirez indeed threw the first punch. Please check your umpire’s report before reporting inaccurate news.
