VIDEO: Vin Scully Intrigued By Rougned Odor’s Same-Name Brother

MLB: Spring Training-Cleveland Indians at Texas Rangers

One thing that Los Angeles Dodgers fans will never get tired of is Vin Scully and his trademark anecdotes that he tells every game.

Scully seems to know everything about every player, and that was the case in the second inning of Wednesday’s game against the Texas Rangers. 21-year-old Venezuelan native Rougned Odor stepped up to bat for Texas. Scully then proceeded to explain the pronunciation of Odor’s name:

It was what came after that made it a classic Vin Scully call. Scully proceeded to explain that Odor’s brother is also named Rougned.

“Just to complicate matters, Odor’s brother is also named Rougned. Can you imagine having two children and you name them exactly the same?” Scully said.

He went on to explain that the two brothers have different middle names, so they don’t have the exact same names.

Odor went 1-for-3 with two RBIs in Wednesday’s victory over the Dodgers. He is batting .177 with a homer and 13 RBIs on the season. His younger brother signed a contract with the Rangers this past February. So one day the Rangers could possibly have two Rougned Odors in their lineup.

  1. It is strange to have brothers with the same name but my husband and twin also have the same first name. My husband has no middle name and his twin does.
