Walker Buehler Will Make His Spring Debut Tuesday

Not long after throwing a 35-pitch bullpen session on Saturday, Dave Roberts finally gave us some good news on Walker Buehler. The Dodgers’ phenom will finally get into game action in the coming week.

After weeks of not knowing if Walker Buehler would ever get into Spring action, we finally have some clarity. Buehler will get his chance on Tuesday against the Indians at Camelback Ranch.

Roberts was relatively silent on Buehler throughout spring, despite being pressed with questions with essentially every media outlet in Arizona. Buehler showed no signs of slowing down at the end of last season, so it was a mystery why he had not been in games.

Roberts finally admitted earlier in the week that Buehler had actually been slow played with purpose. He had experienced a sort of “dead arm” early in camp, so they chose to take it easy on him. Buehler finally got some bullpen sessions in, and looks good to go.

The question remains though, who will start Opening Day? With just over two weeks left, there is hardly time for Buehler to build his pitch count up. Roberts suggested that him and Kershaw could piggy-back on Opening Day, so perhaps that is the plan as of now.
