WATCH: Austin Barnes Hits First Career Home Run

On Jackie Robinson Night, Austin Barnes hit the first home run of his major league career.

In the second inning of Saturday’s game, Diamondbacks starting pitcher Patrick Corbin left a ball over the plate and Barnes turned on it, hitting off of the left field pole.

Barnes launched the ball 408 feet and it came off of his bat at 105 mph.

At 27 years old, Barnes is an older rookie, but he has always been quite a good hitter in the minor leagues. He has finally received his first real opportunity in the major leagues in 2017 and is looking to provide stability as the backup to Yasmani Grandal.
