With a second hamstring strain in less than two weeks, Juan Uribe was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday. With a vacant roster spot available, the Dodgers called up shortstop Erisbel Arruebarrena from their Double-A affiliate.

While Arruebarrena is temporarily replacing Uribe on the roster, he will not see time at third base, according to manager Don Mattingly. Instead, the natural shortstop is with the team as they hope to give Hanley Ramirez some time off. The only game Ramirez has missed this season came one day after he was hit by a pitch on his hand. Arruebarrena brings with him a reliable glove, but weak bat.
