Dodgers News: Darin Ruf Sold to Samsung Lions of KBO
Darin Ruf, we hardly knew you.
The Dodgers sold Ruf to the Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization, according to Ken Gurnick of MLB.com. The Lions officially announced the move Friday morning.
It cleared a 40-man roster spot for the Dodgers, though the team still needs to clear one more to fit both Chase Utley and Franklin Gutierrez.

Ruf was acquired from Philadelphia in the Howie Kendrick deal earlier this winter. The move should be beneficial for Ruf, who will earn $1.1 million in addition to a larger role than he would’ve had in Los Angeles – had he even made the roster.
Ruf could’ve provided more balance to the lineup, but at-bats would’ve been hard to come by. In the end, this is probably best for both sides.
