Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Trayce Thompson is making a name for himself. Being one of the teams home run leaders, Thompson continues to produce on the biggest stages. During the Dodgers loss to the Padres, he hit his 7th home run of the year as well as saving the team from another walk0ff home run by Melvin Upton Jr.

His production level has been so high fans wonder why manager Dave Roberts hasn’t given him more playing time. The Dodgers young core is made up of Corey Seager, Joc Pederson and Thompson who are all currently the Dodgers home run leaders.

Roberts hears the fans, and says each guy has made a case to play more. Roberts also says he is looking to get Thompson more playing time and seeing if those guys can handle the workload. Most of the fans frustrations comes from the fact that veterans like Carl Crawford continue to struggle, yet get the majority of playing time.
“If I see certain opportunities for [Crawford] against a certain tough right-hander that makes sense I’m going to put him out there,” Roberts tells the Petros and Money Show on Friday. “Carl understands his role … my job is to keep everyone involved and get contributions from everyone … at the end of the day it’s about the overall production.”
Roberts went on to say that Crawford has taken on the role of a mentor to the young guys, and looks for them to benefit from that relationship.
