Walker Buehler was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers with the 24th overall pick in the 2015 MLB Entry Draft. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter it was revealed that the talented right-hander from Vanderbilt was going to have to undergo Tommy John surgery.

Buehler won’t pitch until 2017, in all likelihood, but that hasn’t stopped him from making an impact in other ways.

Today, on Reddit, the 21-year old did an AMA (Ask Me Anything) and it was generally fun. Below are some of the questions and answers.

ICYMI: Dodgers, Ethier Have A Deadline on Potential Trade

Battle2heaven: So when did you know you needed TJ surgery? Was it during your final start in the CWS or some time after? Was it caught in the physical with the Dodgers before you signed?

Wabuehler: Didn’t know about it until the physical

leftylogan: How did your first throwing/catch session after the surgery go?

Wabuehler: Felt great!

Yoinkage: What are your goals for the coming season? When can you start pitching full-strength?

Wabuehler: Just to get healthy and to contribute in some way. i will pitch when my arm and the doctors tell me I’m good to go!

FrogmanSki: What was your reaction when you found out you needed Tommy John Surgery?

Wabuehler: Obviously its hard news to swallow but at some point you gotta look at the positives of it and move forward. Better to be healthy

It was great to see the young pitcher interact with fans on a level like this.

There were far more questions that Buehler answered, so be sure to head on over to the official Reddit page of the Q&A to see what else he answered. It was an all-around great read.
