Dodgers News: Yu Darvish Heading to DL

Yu Darvish, will be place on the 10-day disabled list.

Yu, who has made three starts for the Dodgers, going 2-0,;the Dodgers winning every game in those starts, will be sidelined for 10 days or so due to a bad back. An injury that has plagued several Dodgers’ players this year. Although it is likely precautionary, this does make many of the Dodgers’ staff concerned. With Kershaw and Darvish down, that really exposes the Dodgers and gives the perfect achilles heel if they’re not 100% by playoff time.

Edward Paredes will be activated in his stead to give the bullpen a boost. Paredes made an impressive debut stint a few months ago where he had multiple shut out outings before being sent down to make room for players coming off the DL. Paredes will be activated prior to the game against the Tigers.

Dave Roberts let the media in on whats going on with Darvish, and he was confident that Darvish would make a start next Sunday against the Brewers. That will likely force him to miss one or two starts. However, the entire Darvish acquisition was built around playoffs. Keeping Darvish healthy and not pushing him is definitely the safe move to ensure that he is playoff ready.

The Dodgers’ prepare to face the Detroit Tigers for game 3 of the interleague series.

We saw Hyun-Jin Ryu go on the mound as he continues to fight for a rotation spot. Curtis Granderson made his Dodger debut in left field, moving Cody Bellinger to right, while Adrian Gonzalez continues to hold down first. Chris Taylor was in center field as he tries to make that adjustment. In the last three games Taylor has played three different positions.

  1. assuming kershaw, wood, and hill will start playoff games, they only need one other starter…. so a choice between ryu, maeda, and darvish. right now, that would be a tough choice, the 3 are pitching about the same, and all are winning most of their starts. I guess we’ll see who is the hottest come the time.

  2. I do not want to see hill or ryu get starts. They are way too shaky to deserve one. MEADA AND OF COURSE DARVISH WILL GET THEM DESERVEDLY SO
