Dodgers Vs. Padres Preview: Hyun-Jin Ryu Looks To Win Rubber Match
The Dodgers send Hyun-jin Ryu to the mound, who is 8-3 with a 3.18 ERA. Ryu has allowed one run and struck out 13 batters in 13.1 innings while going 1-0 in two starts against the Padres this season.
However, the Dodgers suffered a 3-1 loss in Ryu’s March 30 start at Petco Park. After a stint on the disabled list due shoulder inflammation, Ryu is 5-1 with a 3.38 ERA.
As for the Padres, they hand the ball to former Dodger Eric Stults. The left-hander enters the day with a 2-9 record and 5.76 ERA. Stults is looking to avoid his losing his fifth straight start and becoming the major’s second 10-game loser. In five career starts against the Dodgers, Stults is 1-3 with a 4.30 ERA.
Hanley Ramirez is 4-for-12 and Yasiel Puig is 5-for-6 in their careers against Stults. Ramirez could be the difference for the Dodgers as he has posted a .357 batting average with six RBIs in his last eight games, while putting together an eight-game hitting streak.
Los Angeles has played consistent baseball of late, winning nine times in the last 13 games. The Dodgers come into today’s contest just four games behind the San Francisco Giants in the NL West standings.
