Dodgers: At Least 7 Player Still Have Not Reported to Spring Camp

The Dodgers are still missing some guys.

The Dodgers have already started intrasquad games, signaling the start of the second rendition of Spring Training. But the camp has not been without concerns, as David Price opts out and a few guys have yet to show up at all.

Dave Roberts confirmed that there were still Dodgers players missing from camp In a press conference on Tuesday. While Roberts could not say why that these guys had yet to report, fans have already started to speculate. We will not speculate on those reasons, but we will give context to their absences where possible.

Keibert Ruiz, Pedro Baez, Gavin Lux, and Tony Gonsolin are the four guys that I have no idea on why they are missing. It could be over concerns for the coronavirus, it could be for coming into contact with someone with the virus, or they could be waiting on results Your guess is as good as mine on those Dodgers.

Scott Alexander, Kenley Jansen, and AJ Pollock fall into a little bit different category. All three of these guys have some sort of obvious risk associated with playing baseball this year.

Alexander is a type-1 diabetic who could face a greater risk to the virus. Kenley Jansen has a heart condition that was cleared by doctors, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see him taking his return slowly to feel things out. AJ Pollock’s daughter was born premature and he has spent significant time in the NICU as a result. Of these guys, many have wondered if Pollock would sit out the season.

Regardless of the reason, these guys are not in camp. The Dodgers were a little bit short-handed yesterday, asking a clubhouse attendant to play left-field during the intrasquad. While we may never know the reason they have not arrived, it’s something to keep an eye on this week.

  1. I don’t see a problem with any of those guys not showing up. Please stay home our chances instantly go up with them gone

  2. This season is kind of lame anyway there won’t even be a parade for the champion. Is this how any one envisioned winning it? No fans during it and none after to celebrate

    • You really posted a separate comment instead of directly replying? Get off the internet old man and take your kneeling to Canada

  3. They all have valid reasons not to show up, If I had a medical condition or knew I could harm a family member I wouldn’t show up to practice either.
